notice that the australians that are doing well in the IPL this season are the retired ones or the ones they wont pick for the aussie squad eg. brad hodge.
the selectors and ponting have too many favourites that don't deserve their spots in the national team.

yeah right the aussie selectors and Ponting have too many favourites who dont deserve their spots?? can we name anyone at all??

lets look at it

Test Side

Hughes(gun although only 20, but find me any other opener who deserves it more)
Katich(arguably the most inform batsman in the test side at the moment)
Ponting(despite mini slump is the captain and one of the best batsmen in the world)
Clarke(along with Katich has been holding an out of form lineup together)
M Hussey(ok this might be one spot that is debatable BUT the guy is still averaging 50 in test match cricket, i think he has earnt a bit of time to turn his form around)
North(hit a hundred on debut is a quality batsman, although i have no doubt the selectors would rather Watson in this spot, just needs to stay fit)
Haddin(i dont like him but he is scoring runs and we really have no other option behind the stumps just yet, to early for guys like Wade, Paine, Crosthwaite and guys like Hartley, Ronchi, Manou not up to the standard i think)
Johnson(no possible arguments could be made for him not to be in the side)
Hauritz(best option available since they dont seem to rate Dan Cullen)
Siddle(in form and tireless worker, will play a lot of tests for Australia)
Hilfenhaus(this spot is wide open any of Hilfenhaus, Lee, Clark, Tait could be in this spot)

One Day Side

Watson(maybe not an opener but he is performing whilst he is there)
Haddin(again not an opener but performing)
Ponting(has been good in the one dayers only criticism is hes not turning the 50's into 100's)
Clarke(a gun of the highest quality any situation he can handle it)
M Hussey(has been floating around the order not helping his form but i think he will come good)
Symonds(out of form and i think soon to be out of favour, in comes Ferguson)
Hopes(mr. fix it, plays whatever role is needed and does it well)
Johnson(again no possible arguments could be made for him not to be in the side)
Hauritz(does a really good job in one dayers no doubt best option in this form of the game)
Hilfenhaus(great one day bowler miserly and chips in with some wickets)
Bracken(best one day bowler in the world)

Yeah agree on Manou but as mentioned there really isnt much other choice it could have gone to any of Manou, Ronchi, Hartley, and Paine. and just on Crosthwaite hes only 24 turning 25 born 22 September 1984

maybe i should have meant that ponting has a few players he doesn't want in his squads eg. brad hodge.

also for spinners spot what happens to mcgain and krezja now, both better than hauritz who is the safe option.

Mcgain is a useless 37 year old who should never have even played a test for Australia and Krejza im not sold on at all i still believe Dan Culen to be the best option but Hauritz is the incumbent and is doing well enough

It's back again this year!
Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi the winners so far, against Deccan, Rajasthan and Punjab.

Gazza had a run in with the PC tribunal...but now; He's BACK!

was really good but warney's bowling last night was better, should be in the aussie world cup team, not brett lee.

Watching the IPL makes me think that warnie should probably be in the Australia 20/20 team. You could make a similar case for Hayden and Gilchrist too...

the aussie selectors will never pick a team that is made for the 20/20 game, they have to select too many of their favourites first.

lol good call. I really think they could do with a spinner like warnie. Although his batting lets him down a bit in one dayers/20-20s. Plus they would never pick a 40 something year old..

how is brett lee in the squad and still have a CA contract, he's the worst bowler in the IPL at the moment.

Probably because he has still got an ODI future.... Can't see him staying in the T20I frame for long though, seeing as we've already got three genuine quicks in Johnson, Nannes and Tait.

Gazza had a run in with the PC tribunal...but now; He's BACK!
